Waddie's Apple Pie
Storing fruit is easy after it has been dried.
Pioneers would dry apples and have
them all year long. Try something new and bake a pie with dried apples,
but
remember you have to start a day early and soak the apples.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups dried apples
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 pie crusts 8 inches, unbaked
- 3 tablespoons butter
Directions:
Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Soak the apples in water overnight.
Drain off water, mix apples with sugar and spices.
Add apple mixture to crust.
Dot with butter and cover with second crust, make slashes in
top to ventilate.
Bake 1 hour, until top is golden brown.
