Sidewinder Snickerdoodles
You and your partner can mix up this favorite pioneer
cookie on a rainy day and take turns rolling the dough in the sugar
and cinnamon mixture. In a very short time the kitchen will have an
inviting smell and family and friends will be asking for more.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter at room temp.
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- COATING; combine 1/4 cup sugar & 3/4 cup cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Lightly grease cookie sheets.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cream of
tartar. Set aside.
With mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy and
light as a springtime cloud over a Wyoming sky.
Add eggs one at a time beating until combined.
Add flour mixture, blend well.
Roll a small amount of the dough (about the size of a walnut)
between your hands and form a ball.
Roll the ball in the cinnamon and sugar mixture and drop onto
the cookie sheet.
Bake 12 to 13 minutes until tops are slightly crackled.
Makes approximately 30 cookies.
